Yes, Halo 3 is just a game, but when the company behind it puts so much into the canon of their world and takes the time to develop a story with as much background as they have, Bungie deserves to be considered one of the best. Specifically, I'm talking about the diorama of a memorial based on a fictional game, which in turn was developed into an interactive tour on Halo 3's website. As you tour through the diorama , you can learn about the elements (such as the types of enemy troops, first person interviews with soldiers) and even come across embedded videos. The series is called 'Believe'. As of now, there are two videos which have been released. More in the coming weeks. You can find the videos as direct links if you want, butI encourage you as a gamer to go through the diorama tour and see the artistic vision behind this game, and more importantly their world. Do I believe? Yes. Yes I do.

This is a slightly older article from 1Up , but I think that it's well written and definately summarizes the demise of the historical arcade. The state of the Arcade (2004) There was a time when an arcade operator in America could buy a Ms. Pac-Man
machine for less than $1,000, let it sit in an arcade, bar or storefront, and
see that game make back over 30 times the initial investment. In 2004, that kind
of profit margin is little more than a pipe dream. Last update: 03-04-2006 10:06

Imagine Quake 3 on a 24 monitor display . This guy over at Plastk:net works with research focused on display wall interfaces. Watching Warcraft 2 on a 9 panel display is pretty cool too.

From Boing Boing : Gamers are better at multitasking Gamers are better at multitasking than baseline humans. A researcher at Oregon State U is measuring the "switching cost" of going from one task to another, like paying attention to your mobile phone and to the road in front of you. Multitasking gets more expensive the more complex each individual task is. She concludes that gamers have higher proficiency at multitasking, however. Full article Last update: 13-12-2005 10:48
